FOORD, Christel Monicka
Christel Monicka Foord (nee Pelzer) grew up on a farm north of Regina along the Qu’Appelle Valley. Christel was a farm girl at heart. Christel’s spirituality was the cornerstone of her life. She sang in the choir, was involved in Sunday school, and served on church council. When travelling Christel always found a place of worship. During Christel’s career as a Radiation Therapist, she fulfilled many roles, from therapist to management. Every patient and co-worker was impacted by Christel’s profound compassionate nature. Christel’s passion was traveling, she was happiest when she was travelling or planning to travel. Throughout her life she exchanged a backpack for a suitcase and travelled all over the world. Christel lived in Calgary, Victoria, Australia, and Saudi Arabia and with each move or trip she established lifelong friendships. At home, her slice of paradise was at the cabin, either sitting on the deck with a glass of wine or floating on the lake. Christel met the love of her life, Ron Foord and got married April 9th, 1994. They honeymooned in Barbados and this trip became a yearly tradition of idyllic hot holidays. Christel’s greatest adventure began in 1999 with the birth of her pride and joy, Isaac. He was the light of her life and she felt honoured to be his mom. She loved showing him the world and attending all his activities. Christel shared her love of the world with Ron, their three girls and Isaac. Whether it was on the top of a ski hill, on the beach or floating on the lake, Christel cherished these family moments. Christel treasured her connection with her grandchildren. Special meals, snuggles and dance parties were common at Grandma and Papa’s house. Christel led an active life, singing, playing the piano, bike riding, cross country and downhill skiing, baseball, golfing, running and walking around the lake with Ron. Whether it was at home or abroad, it really didn’t matter what activity they were doing, as long as they were together. Christel lived her life in service to others, she never asked for anything in return or to be recognized for her efforts, she simply wished for others to find joy and be happy. Christel peacefully passed away July 13th, 2022, joining her father, Wilhelm Pelzer, father-in-law Edward Foord, son Adam and brother-in-law Terry Juravel. Left to cherish her legacy is her mother, Mary Pelzer; husband, Ron; children, Isaac, Lindsay (Josh), Teddi (Ben) and Paige (Keenan); grandchildren, Rayce, Beckett, Sloane, Griff and Foord; siblings Anne Juravel and Edmund (Darlene) Pelzer and numerous nieces and nephews. Christel’s greatest treasure was her family and many friends. Her presence in our lives will forever be her greatest gift.
