Obituary of Gloria June Derkach

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan. Gloria is dearly loved and will be missed by her husband Henry; her daughters, Heather Houssian (Terry) and Nicole Bain (Marcus); her four beloved grandsons, Aaron Houssian, Corey Houssian, Ryan Bain and Liam Bain; her brother Ken Goodman (Linda); sisters, Sharron Dashney and Laurel Wawchuk (Rick); her brothers and sisters in law, Peter and Sonia Derkach, Leonard and Margie Derkach, and their families; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends. Gloria was born on May 26, 1947, in Wynyard, Saskatchewan, to Svienn and Valdis Goodman. Gloria attended school in Wynyard and after graduation took her registered nurse's training in Prince Albert. After graduating, she took a position at the Hudson Bay Hospital. Gloria met Henry in Hudson Bay and they were married on May 2, 1970. As Henry was a member of the RCMP, they lived in several communities before permanently being transferred to Regina. Gloria had a wonderful heart, unbelievable patience, and a great and witty sense of humour. Gloria loved fishing and being with immediate and extended family. She had a special place in her heart for her family and grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Gloria's Life at the RCMP Chapel, 5600 11^th Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow at the Heritage Centre, 5907 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK. Gloria loved children; should you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Gloria’s name, to the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation, #1-345 3^rd Avenue South, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1M6.
