Obituary of Harold Norman Rein

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our much-loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, Harold Rein, at the age of 89 years. Harold was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Eleanor; parents Lydia and Frank Ollinger, and Christian and Clara Klupper; brother Walter Ollinger; and in-laws Roy and Eleonora Fries. He is survived by his children: daughter Linda (Bill); sons Ron, Randy (Leanne), and Brent (Kendra); grandchildren: Jeff (Crystal), Darren (Michelle), Troy (Dayna), and Kelsey (Tanner); four beautiful great-granddaughters: Kenley, Sloan, Kaybree, and Scarlett; sisters-in-law Bev Ollinger, Berna (Joe) Nieswandt, and Mary Vlake; brother-in-law Leo (Dianna) Fries; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Harold had many occupations throughout his working career but the one job he enjoyed the most was that of a letter carrier with Canada Post. In retirement, he and Eleanor loved to travel, especially to warm and interesting places. Harold was an avid learner and had a lifelong interest in technology and gadgets. He could spend hours on his computer – surfing the net, emailing someone a good joke, texting his grandkids, or Skyping relatives. Above all else, Harold loved spending time with his family. He looked forward to visits from his grandchildren and especially his great-granddaughters. Harold always had a hug and a stash of treats waiting for them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A special thank you to the RGH staff on the CCU, 3F, and the Palliative Care Team for their compassionate care. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 2026 Winnipeg St., Regina, SK on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Harold may be made to a charity of your choice.
