Derek Suddaby

Obituary of Derek Michael Thomas Jude Suddaby

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Derek Suddaby on Saturday August 20, 2022 at the age of 39 years.

Derek was predeceased by his father Thomas Suddaby and by his grandparents on both sides. Derek leaves to cherish his memory his mother Karen (Murray) Lanz; his sister Crystal (Terry) Duchcherer; his nephew Beckham; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Derek was a kind, loving, generous man. He had a heart of gold, would do anything for his family and friends and would literally give you the shirt off his back. He always saw the beauty in everything around him. He would try to repurpose old items or turn them into art. He was very talented artistically. He created pencil drawings, painted pictures and murals, wrote poems and created metal sculptures (many in his Mom’s yard). He was a welder by trade and was very proud to have worked as an industrial welder for the military.  He was equally proud of his excellent marks and receiving his drug counselling certificate.  He was hoping to reach kids and other individuals by writing a book and speaking in schools. He was always thinking of others and wanting to help.

Derek was an animal lover especially of cats. He had his buddy Chance for many years as his sidekick. Derek was very charismatic. He adored his nephew Beckham and had a special bond with him. He loved all kids, showing them magic tricks and always a jokester. You always knew when Derek was around as that’s when the laughs began. His jokes had you crying in laughter, his family and friends can attest to his quick wit and comebacks. Derek loved life and had a forever bond with all the people that he loved in his life.

Our hearts are broken, Derek you will be missed tremendously. Until we meet again in our Lord’s Kingdom. In our hearts forever.

A private family memorial gathering was held. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam to Regina Humane Society or Excalipurr Cat Cafe 2156 Albert Street Regina, Saskatchewan.
