Our beautiful Mom, Kokum, Big Kokum, Little Kokum, Sister, Aunt, and friend went home to the Creator on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at the age of 84 years. She was a long time educator, who touched the hearts of many students. Frances was a strong advocate of Anishinabemowin (Ojibwe) and was respected by all who knew her. Frances was predeceased by her Husband Gerald (Jerry) Anaquod; her Parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Fontaine; Mother and Father-in-law, Nellie and John Anaquod; Sisters, Dora (Joe Guimond), Mildred (Henry) Courchene, Lucy (Frank) Daniels, Lillian Fontaine; Brothers, Henry (Maxine) Fontaine, Louis Fontaine; Brothers-in-law, Allan Courchene, Morris Anaquod, Lloyd Anaquod, Glen Anaquod, Alex LaForte, Ernest Aubichon; Sisters-in-law, Velma Aubichon, Theresa Anaquod; and Grandchildren, Anthony Anaquod, Matthew Sparvier, Joseph Bellegarde-Mantee, Angie, Ronnie, and Eli Bell. Frances is survived by her Sons, Elden (Tanya) Anaquod, Barry (Sharon) Anaquod; Daughters, Brenda Anaquod, Elaine (Chipper) Courchene, Sharon Anaquod; Sisters, Evelyn LaForte, Margaret Courchene, Madeline Courchene; Brother Harold Fontaine (Brenda); Sister-in-law Linda Anaquod; Brothers-in-law, Eugene (Judy) Anaquod, Robert “Bob” Anaquod. Special thanks to Chief Melissa Anaquod Tavita, Council, Muscowpetung FN. A most special thanks to the Piapot FN Community.

She is also survived by her treasured Grandchildren, Stephen Anaquod-Desjarlais, Melissa Thomson, Ashley Bell, Andrea (Chad) Peters, Christopher (Dakayla) Bellegarde, Jonas (Lyndsey) Bellegarde, Shannon (Will) Bellegarde, Chad Thomson, Michelle (Garry) Thomson-Swampy, Vanessa (Rob) Anaquod-Sparvier; 29 Great-Grandchildren; one Great-Great-Grandchild; special mention of Great-Grandson Leo Peters; Nephew Phil Anaquod; as well as numerous relatives and friends across Canada.

Prayer Service Little Flower Parish on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. Wake will be held at Piapot First Nation Band Hall on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Piapot First Nation Band Hall on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at the Gerald and Frances Anaquod Cemetery, Muscowpetung First Nation, SK.
