It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Beatrice Hughes on October 9, 2022 at the age of 93. Beatrice Bertha Beug was born August 4, 1929 and was the last child born to Hedwig and Max Beug of Punnichy, SK. Beatrice married Fred Hughes on May 28, 1949 in Regina. Together they raised five children. Beatrice was always busy in her life, curling at the Tartan club, golfing at the Royal Regina, or volunteering with the Cosmo Pals. Beatrice made life-long friends everywhere she went and treasured every one of those friendships. She was fortunate to travel to many countries of the world with Fred, collecting rocks from every trip! Beatrice enjoyed life at her “doll house” in Mesa where she danced, laughed, golfed and played cards with new and old friends for more than 35 years. She was predeceased by her husband Fred; son Daryl; and daughter-in-law Donna Lynne. Beatrice was also predeceased by her parents, Hedwig and Max; sisters Minnie, Gertrude, Alma, and Hattie; and brothers Eric, Max, Harry and William.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Dianne Diggle (Marshall), Darlene Panchuk (Clayton), Stacy Hughes (Rita) and James Hughes (Cynthia); grandchildren, Jennifer Diggle, Chris Diggle (Jenn), Sherry Diggle (Aaron Krombholz), Jarrett Hughes (Colleen), Tyler Hughes (Katie Balkwill), Jenna Hughes (Jordie McTavish), Richard Panchuk (Brianna), Curtis Panchuk (Lana), Dylan Hughes (Mallory), Hedy Hughes (Mike Johnson), Frazer Hughes (Ashley Burndred), Ashton Hughes, Carmen Hughes;  12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mom was like the rocks she collected and carried home, each one special, unique, and having their own characteristics, so that when she made them part of her collection they became beautiful just like her!
We would like to thank all the staff of 3A Palliative Care Unit at Pasqua Hospital for their compassion, care and support given to Beatrice and family during her stay. We will miss her laugh, humour and wit!
Please join us in celebrating Beatrice’s life at Broadway United Church, 105 Broadway Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Join us for lunch following the service in the church basement.
