Obituary of Ido Fiori

Ido Fiori, loving husband, dad and nonno, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, November 11, 2022, at the age of 94. He was the last remaining survivor of his family’s generation.

Ido was born on May 14, 1928, to Francesco and Laurina in Bagni di Lucca, Italy. In 1951, he married the love of his life, Pia and in 1952, their son Robert was born. On March 8, 1957, they boarded a ship and immigrated to Canada to start a new life. In 1969, their daughter Linda was born. Ido worked as a steelworker for 33 years at Stelco, Armour and Geico Steel companies. His passions were his family, gardening, wine making, and a willingness to help anyone in need. Ido was proud of his Italian heritage and was a founding member of the G. Marconi Italian Club. He was predeceased by son Robert; parents Francesco and Laurina; siblings Maria (Gino), Elisabetta, Ameriga (Adolfo), Vergilio (Maria) and Siro; in-laws Pacifico and Santina Carani; sister-in-law Eva (Aldo) Palandri; brothers-in-law Ivo (Giovanina) Carani, Silvano Carani and Guiseppe Barsanti.

Ido leaves behind his loving family; wife of 71 years, Pia; daughter Linda (Nevin) Fischer; daughter-in-law Carol Fiori; three grandchildren Jennifer (Scott) Jungwirth, Justin Fiori and Michaela Fischer (Carter Srochenski); four great-grandchildren Mateo, Ethan, Allegra, and Rylan; sisters-in-law Eni Carani and Diva Carani; as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Funeral Mass for Ido will be held at Holy Family Parish, 1021 McCarthy Blvd, Regina, SK on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Regina Palliative Care at the Pasqua Hospital.
