Marlene and I had known each other for decades. She had a strong, determined spirit and worked very hard to remove obstacles that made our lives, like getting around, so hard. We were working, disabled women so had a lot in common. We had to be able to get around so things such as paratransit, condition of sidewalk, public spaces, etc., really mattered. She followed city hall politics closely. Marlene was often chosen to represent the city at national conferences which focused on accessible travel. Since Marlene
worked for the federal government she was on a national committee representing employees with disabilities. She was busy! Marlene was a passionate Ukrainian, her religion and culture. Bernie and I often saw she and Doug manning the Ukrainian booth at Mosaic. She wasn't all work. Marlene was a keen Rider fan, loved her pets, her summer flowers, dining at fine restaurants, meeting at the mall for a quick bite to name a few. Marlene made a difference and we will miss her.

We are sorry we were unable to attend however, we were extremely pleased to join you on the live stream. Our condolences to you Doug, Allan & Family. It was great to see you Doug with Marlene in Silton. It is always so disappointing to see each other at the time when a family member is lost and wish we would have seen each other on happier notes. Please take care and treasure all the special memories you had with Marlene! Our thoughts & prayers are with you on this difficult day!

Our condolences to Marlene.s family.
We are saddened of the news of our cousin Marlene's passing. Although she was only 62 years of age, she had done much with her life at work and play. She was very involved in doing service work, in spite of her disabilities being there for others.
Marlene was an example of a strong, compassionate person, tougher than nails.
I had gotten reacquainted back in Regina with the passing of her Mom. We stayed in touch sending emails with old pictures we where in possession of and enjoyed talking of the memory's attached.
Marlene was a good daughter, sister, cousin, co-worker and friend to many and always had time for her pets.
We had met again this past May 2022 for another family service in Silton, Sask.
I had arrived early into town and decided to stop at an antique store for something special for my wife. While approaching the store I was pleased to find Marlene sitting in her van talking to her brother Dougie as he was in the store some ten feet away showing her some beautiful dolls that where similar to ones she had at home. It was so nice to see and hear them chatting about some special memories they have, sharing with anyone in earshot.
It will be a beautiful memory of her that i keep in my heart forever.
love from Chris Fluter and family

I had the pleasure of working with Marlene, she helped train me in collections. I enjoyed our time together. She always had a smile on her face, and loved to give a ribbing in a way that was just Marlene. Her laugh was infectious! Her kindness knew no limits! She always had a kind word for you and always brought joy wherever she went. I will miss her greatly.
My condolences to the family and friends.
