Lea Kennedy

Obituary of Lea Kennedy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret “Lea” Kennedy, in the early morning of Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the age of 76. Predeceased by her parents Charles Kennedy (1994) and Merle Kennedy (2009), Lea is survived by her daughters, Fiona (Mac) Young of Scotland and Jennifer (Cary) James of Regina; granddaughters Kate (Brett) Kozar and Hailey Hughes (Ryan Monteith); Cary’s children, Eric James and Emily James (Sam Criddle); her brother Lorne Kennedy; sister Mary-Lyn Kennedy (Brian Schaefer); niece Shae Melnychuk; and last but not least, the joys of her life, her great-grandsons Boden, Benjamin, Grayson and Kohen.

Lea was actively involved on several boards and committees over the years including the Regina Exhibition Association, Silver Broom, Big Valley Jamboree, and Junior Hockey Championships. Mom loved the CFL and was proud to represent our city along with Merle at several Grey Cups with Rendezvous Regina. She will be missed by the Royal Red Arabian Horse Show where she was the Barn Office Manager for the past 30 years. In her later years, she was also a volunteer at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre and Souls Harbour Rescue Mission.

Special thanks to Dr. Mufta, Dr. Bashir and the staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, as well as the incredible nursing team of the Pasqua Hospital’s Oncology Unit. The care, compassion, and comfort you provided to us will never be forgotten. You truly are special people.

At Lea’s request there will be no funeral service. There will be a small celebration of her life to be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make a donation in Mom’s name to Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, 1632 Angus Street, Regina, SK S4T 1Z2.
