Obituary of Edith Mae Watson Young
Edith Mae Watson passed away on December 1, 2022, age 99 at William Albert care home. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by sons, Barry (Dianne) of Victoria, Keith (Jan) of Tyvan, and Preston (Gail) of Regina; grandchildren, Erin (Sean), Graham (Sarah), Jason (Tracey), Jessica, Kendi (Derek), Blade (Becky), Daniel, Spencer (Hayden), and Sam; and numerous beloved great-grandchildren. Edith was predeceased by siblings, Jean (Edwin), Grace (Bill), Helen (Earl), Alec (Winnie, Lisa), and Watson (Loretta).
Edith was married to her loving husband, Girvin Young, for 52 years. Together they shared a passion for square dancing, bridge, golf, curling, and travel. Edith was proud of her record 25 years as a volunteer for the Diabetes Association. She had a zest for life, art and fashion, and was a senior model into her late 70’s. Edith had more friendships in her lifetime than anyone could expect to have, and her friendships crossed the generations. By nature she was always optimistic, and full of love for family and friends. The family is deeply appreciative for all the acts of love and kindness to Edith as her health declined. Gratitude to the wonderful staff at William Albert House. Thanks to Joyce, Audrey and special thanks to Verdella who provided love, care and comfort to Edith during the past year. Thanks to Mary Beth Priddle, Mary Carter, and Vera Sisson, among so many good friends.
A memorial for Edith is planned for summer 2023. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association, or the Canadian Cancer Society. Internment at Govan Cemetery.
