Sheila Yvonne Jameson, late of Regina, SK, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband John A. (Jack); her parents Rod and Eva Tucker; and brother Walter C. (Bud) Tucker, late of California.
Sheila is survived by her three children, Thomas R. (Melody) Jameson, Jill Y. (Alex) Docking and Douglas A. (Brenda) Jameson; grandchildren Kevin (Amanda) Jameson, Kaelynne (Nathan) Reid, Tyler (Sally) Docking, Brett, and Haylee Jameson; great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Emma Reid; sister-in-law and best friend Margaret (Bunny) Tucker of California; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was born in Regina and attended Victoria Public School, Central Collegiate, Regina College and the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon and received her certification as a lab technician in 1952. Sheila was then employed at the Regina General Hospital laboratory until the arrival of her first child when she became a stay-at-home mom.
Sheila was active in St. Mary’s Anglican Church on the Altar Guild for 45 years, a Sunday school teacher, choir member, Vestry member and chair for some 25 years. She was a 50 year member of the Elizabeth Regina Chapter, IODE and cherished the friendships made there.
Even as she battled dementia in her later years, Mom had a great sense of humour which is probably why her grandchildren sometimes fondly referred to her as “Grandma Dynamite”. Always exuding class, but at the same time never the least bit pretentious, Mom was just as comfortable in an evening gown at a formal military ball with Dad, as she was wearing a funny hat and flashing the “hang loose” symbol to make people laugh. Mom was loved and will be missed by many. As we bid Mom farewell, we say to her what we know she would have said to all she leaves behind. “God Bless.”
Funeral Service will take place where Mom was baptised, confirmed, and married - St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. The service will be livestreamed.
Floral gifts are gratefully declined. In lieu thereof, those so inclined are invited to make donations to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan.
