Obituary of Gordon Alan Berg

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Alan Berg at the age of 92.

Gordon began life at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba and shortly thereafter his family relocated to rural Saskatchewan to the community of Kinbrae and then later to Bredenbury. In 1950, he moved to Regina where he worked at McBride’s Grocery Store and then with the Regina Transit system. He later got a job at the Co-op Refinery, which began his 37-year career with Federated Co-operatives Ltd and the Co-op Retailing System. During his years with this organization, he held various positions in Regina, Saskatoon and Brandon, Manitoba before returning to Regina where he concluded his career at the Co-op Refinery.

Aside from his family and traveling, Gordon’s passions included spending time at the family cabin on Last Mountain Lake and volunteering with the Wa Wa Shrine in the Drum Corps and the T-Birds.

Predeceased by his parents Beatrice and Manly; his loving wife of 47 years Esther; and sister Darlene (Gerald) Burman. Gordon is survived by his wife of 22 years Elizabeth (Pat) Milne; his daughter Gloria (Frank) Brandon of Saskatoon and their children Shawn (Kristen) and Melissa and great grandchild Merrick; his son Bruce (Karen) of Edmonton and their children Jason (Rachel) and Adam; sisters Arlene (Ray) Lemchuk of Yorkton and Victoria Kohnen of Melville and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Pat’s children Beverly (Brad) Patterson and their children; Brennan, Chad (Payton) and Christina; Rhonda (Nathan) Dvernichuk and their children Austin and Amy; and Rob (Wendy) Milne and their children Adam and Melissa, all of Regina.
