Our sympathies to Ian's family. Crystal and I saw him a few times over the years and meant to visit him at the Home in Regina, but never got there. Ian was my age. When we both were 5 or so, Ian and his parents with Bernadette picked me up at our farm near Lumsden and Ian and I went to a speech therapist at Wascana Hospital in Regina. The s.t. was Mrs. Hunter. It was a big deal for me to go with these people from Bethune...which then was far, far away. Bernie was chatty and maybe giggly?? and always smiling and positive. I sure miss Mr. and Mrs. Struthers and now I will miss Ian every day. At least once, Bethune Lions needed workers for a bingo and asked some of us from the Rider Pep Band or Harmony Lions Club. Ian and I sure had a good visit at bingo and maybe at pizza afterwards. Many strangers noticed me during the week without my Pep Band uniform on and without my tuba.
Another time, I saw him at Lincoln Gardens and at the CFL's Centennial Train by the old Taylor Field. Rest easy Ian. Love from Crystal and Blaine Dodds. Life is unfair sometimes and it is right now. I am trying to find someone to drive us to Bethune this Friday for the Memorial. I have more Bethunian friends than Lumsdenites. Thank you Ian, for being a great friend.
