Obituary of Luke Kenneth James Schofield

Livestream of the service

Our Viking Warrior Luke lost his courageous battle with osteosarcoma on Saturday, January 14, 2023, peacefully and surrounded by love.  His final days were spent with loved ones and friends and most of all with his emotional support, his best girl, Sadie his dog.

Luke went to Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School in Regina, where as a student athlete he played football and basketball and was a friend to everyone.

Luke will always be remembered for his infectious smile, his positive attitude, and his joy for life. He had a passionate love for music and started playing the drums and the guitar at a young age. When Luke’s disease took away his beloved sports, he turned to music and loved to play music and sing. Luke enjoyed working at the Murray Golf Course in the summer including this past July and August when his disease was briefly in remission.

Luke was lucky enough to have the best friends anyone one could possibly have. There were many and they travelled as a pack! Luke’s friendships were very important to him, and in turn he inspired his buddies to always live in the moment and not worry about things you can’t control.

Luke was predeceased by his Papa Terry Schofield.  Left to celebrate his beautiful memory is his mother Caron (Alvaro Garcia); father Ken; sisters Haylee and Madeline; grandmother Peggy Schofield; grandparents Bob and Dawn Little; aunt Sharon (Ron) Cherepuschak; aunt Adrienne (Tyler) Field; aunt Trina (Shawn) Elliott; cousins Christopher (Kim Lawson) Cherepuschak and their daughter Elizabeth, Cody Cherepuschak, Dillon Herback, Paige Herback, Shay EIlliot and Brook Elliott; as well as numerous other cousins and relatives, and of course the love of his life, Sadie the Lady.

Thank you to the team at the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, the team at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic, the folks at the pediatric oncology clinic at the General, and the palliative care team at the Pasqua Hospital for all the care and love they showed to Luke.

A service to honour this incredible young man will be held at Queensbury Convention Center, 1700 Elphinstone Street, Regina, SK on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Craig Moeller officiating. Those who have played sports with Luke are encouraged to wear their jerseys.

Live like Luke.
