Obituary of Donna Gerlach

It is with great sadness that the friends of Donna Elizabeth Gerlach announce that she passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in Regina, Saskatchewan at Parkside Extendicare, with caring staff members by her side. Donna was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on August 9, 1939.  She was the beloved and only child of John (Johannes) Gerlach and Theresa Julie Gerlach (née Saworski). Predeceased by both parents, Donna is survived by cousins in the United States and many friends here in Regina. The majority of her career was in clerical capacities for Saskatchewan Hospital Services and the Saskatchewan Government. Nothing was more important to Donna than her Mother and Father. She was an exemplary daughter. Donna also loved, and was very involved in St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, where she attended daily mass, was a Sacristan, an active member of the CWL, and a choir member. She was a good, kind friend and neighbor. Donna cherished her dogs – mostly Pekinese, loved gardening – especially her Lilies, and was an avid Roughriders fan. She will be especially missed by her former neighbor and dear friend Dene Way, and many other friends. Many thanks to the staff and doctors at Parkside Extendicare, where Donna resided since July 2017 until her passing, for the special loving and compassionate care she received while living there. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 5020 – 7^th Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. The mass will be live streamed. Interment of Donna’s ashes will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Donna may be made to St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Parish, 5020 – 7^th Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 0S1 or to the Regina Humane Society, P.O. Box 3143 Stn. Main, Regina, SK S4P 3G7. Donna, as you join the Angelic Choir in Heaven – “keep on singing” my friend.
