Arseny Kozak, a cherished husband, father, grandpa, and gedo, has joined his heavenly father on February 2, 2023. He was born in Theodore, SK, worked and raised his family in Esterhazy, SK, and spent the last 16 years in Regina, SK.

Arseny will be remembered for being easy going, his kind heart, and his willingness to help others. He was a very proud hoist operator at IMC Canada’s K1 mine (now known as The Mosaic Company). Arseny was also a “Jack of All Trades.” When he wasn’t working at the mine, he was building our home, renovating other houses, or fixing our vehicles in the garage. He loved to be spontaneous and load the family into the brown station wagon for a weekend trip to Brandon, MB or maybe it was to see the world’s largest turtle in Boissevain, MB. The annual Kozak vacation was August long weekend to celebrate Arseny and Elaine’s anniversary. The family headed to Regina, stayed at the Travelodge on Albert Street, and the kids always looked forward to ordering Shirley Temples at supper and attending the exhibition.

After his stroke in 1992, Arseny continued to be determined to live his life to the fullest. He always wanted to play just “one” game of Kaiser with his children and grandchildren; usually bidding a ‘9 No’ hand and miraculously winning the hand! Arseny read the newspaper every day, enjoyed solving puzzles, and travelling to Hawaii in 2018. He will also be remembered for his “thumbs up” and “right on” responses when asked how he was doing. Despite Arseny’s many limitations, he rarely complained and wanted nothing more than a firm handshake and to be able to ask, “How are you?”

Arseny will be forever loved and remembered by his family: Elaine, Clinton (Karen, Jonathan), Colleen (Hannah), Charlene (Ferlin, Caleb, Skyler, Nathan), and Clayton (Shauna, Clara).

Thank you to all the staff at Home Care East Side (Desi, Alex), RGH 3E (Amanda, Shan, Adrian), and Palliative Care (Camille, Myra, Sarah) for all the love, kindness, and tender care you showed to Arseny during this difficult time for him as well as to our family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina SK, on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., with a lunch to follow at Speers Family Centre. Please use the link above to view the livestream of the service.
