Obituary of Raymond Chi Keung Chan

It is with saddened hearts we inform friends and family that our dad, Raymond Chi Keung Chan has passed away. He died on Friday, February 3, 2023 at home with his wife, Kitty. Raymond was born on May 26, 1955 in Hong Kong to Chan Yu Seung and Hui Woon Kwan.

Raymond immigrated to Regina in 1979 after completing his education at Hong Kong Polytechnic. In 1980, Raymond and Kitty were married and she joined him in Canada shortly thereafter. They joyfully welcomed their firstborn daughter, Karen, into their family in 1983. That same year, Raymond and Kitty were baptized together on Christmas Day! During this period, Raymond continued to work at Water’s Dental Laboratory where he honed in on his skills as a dental technician. In 1987, Raymond and Kitty welcomed their beloved second daughter Karrie. She joined the family for three months before returning to Our Heavenly Father. Shortly after Karrie’s passing, the family relocated to Calgary where they lived for four years. In 1989, they welcomed their third and favourite daughter, Roanna, into the world. In 1992, the family relocated back to Regina where they welcomed their youngest (and true favourite) family member, Erica. During that year, Raymond established his business Ray’s Ceramic Dental Laboratory. While Raymond adjusted and adapted to his life in Canada, he never got used to the cold temperatures. He would often wear multiple layers of clothing to stay warm.

Raymond enjoyed cooking for and having coffee with his friends. He was a well-loved friend and could spend hours recounting his early days in Hong Kong or the days when he first landed in Canada. He cherished spending time with his late dog, Orzo and loved finding a good deal at The Bay. His favourite way to exercise was to swim laps at the Sandra Schmirler Leisure Centre. He would be sure to end the session with a relaxing dip in the hot tub.

There will be a come and go time of remembering our dad at Speers Funeral Chapel from 3:00pm - 6:00pm.
