Obituary of Jody Boyd Lonethunder

Jody Boyd Lonethunder left us Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 53 years of age. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Hilda Favel-Big Eagle and Lloyd Big Eagle; paternal grandparents Cecelia and Louie Lonethunder; parents, Sharon Big Eagle-Lonethunder-Hamilton and Ralph Lonethunder; sisters, Lydia and Melody Lonethunder; son, Jody Jr. Lonethunder; baby neices, Joanne and Amy Lonethunder; wives lost to death, Wanda Akachuk, Althena George, then Gaylene High Elk; Aunt, Sylvia Big Eagle-Hawkins; and Great Auntie, Laura Big Eagle.
Jody was a dedicated Rider fan and a die-hard Montreal Canadiens fan. He was a good horseback rider and artist. He loved the outdoors, and was a good sportsman, especially with fishing. Jody loved music, especially Bryan Adams and Kelly Clarkson. He loved his culture and being around family and friends. If someone needed a place to stay or something to eat, Jody was there for them. Jody was like a father to his numerous nieces and nephews. He was a gentle heart, kind soul, always had a smile, and an infectious laugh.
Jody left behind sister, Tracy Big Eagle-Lonethunder-Davidson; brothers, Jerry Wilson and Lance (Sheila) Lonethunder; grandsons, Jody Lonethunder the 3rd and Kashius Lonethunder; many loved nieces and nephews, eldest niece, Alexis Big Eagle; Aunt Janet White Bear and Uncle Dan Gene Bigstone; cousins, Leslie Ann and James Big Eagle; Bro, Corey Standing Ready; good friends, Kevin Bigstone and Joey Stupnikoff; numerous grandnieces and grandnephews; and numerous foster brothers and sisters.
Wake will be held at Ocean Man First Nation on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Funeral Man First Nation on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
He will be laid to rest on Ocean Man First Nation, next to his son Jody Jr. Lonethunder.
Please be aware that smoking will not be allowed indoors due to oxygen use.
