Obituary of Loreen Lucille Yanko

Loreen Yanko passed away peacefully from Pancreatic and Liver Cancer on Friday, March 3rd, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Loreen was born and raised in Emerson, MB and having moved to Regina, SK as a young adult lived the rest of her life with her beloved husband, Terry. 

Anyone who had the chance to be friends with her or have her in their lives were truly blessed. She truly felt her reason for being on this earth was to take care of people, and that is exactly what she did. Loreen took on the role as first born very seriously, and as such she was known in the family as everyone’s favourite Auntie and often the point-person for all things family related. 

Many people relied on Loreen and she always exceeded expectations, both put upon her and those she placed upon herself. She took many people under her wing and ensured they felt loved and cared for. She was a loyal friend, willing to support and help in any way. Whether she was raising her kids, bringing her famous cheeseball to every Christmas gathering, cooking dinner for large crowds, or travelling to different cities and provinces just to visit and have a coffee with someone, she never forgot people and always made the effort to stay in touch.

Loreen was extremely passionate about quilting, starting her own business after retiring from Scotiabank after 30 years of service. She created works of art, captivating and beautiful, and put into pattern weaves of love and care. Many of her creations can be found proudly displayed around Regina, such as at the Legion and the RCMP Heritage Center. While several of her quilts are valued at thousands of dollars, the sentimental value is beyond measure. 

Loreen was predeceased by her beloved mother, Lucille Forrester (Perrault) and her father (Charles) Lloyd Forrester. She is survived by her loving husband of over 40 years, Terry Yanko, and their children, Angela (Tristin) Dessert, and Tyler Yanko; her grandchildren, Jace, Rease, Luca, and Sydney; her brother Joe Forrester and sister Loretta (Sean) Russell; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. 

Loreen's life will be celebrated at the Shrine Hall, 2065 Hamilton St. Regina, SK on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please join us in commemorating her life.
