Obituary of Doreen Luella Hanna
On Thursday, March 9, 2023, Doreen Hanna passed away in Regina, Saskatchewan after years of health challenges. Doreen was born in Kenaston, Saskatchewan on November 3, 1933. She married Bill Hanna in 1952. They lived in several small towns in Saskatchewan and Alberta over the next few years before settling in Regina in 1960. Doreen worked most of her career at Sears but retired early to care for Bill after his cancer diagnosis.
Doreen and Bill enjoyed curling, golfing, shuffleboard and wintering in Arizona for many years until his death in 2007. For the past 6 years, Doreen has lived in College Park and enjoyed the many activities. She played bridge, cards, Wii games, shuffleboard and competed in the Senior games there while enjoying the friendship of many residents.
Aside from her husband Bill, Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Edith and Elmer Thompson and her brother George. Doreen is survived by 3 daughters, Audrey (Glenn) Naldrett, Diana (Kent) Fletcher and Yvonne (Earl) Potter. Doreen was lucky to have 6 grandchildren, Sean (Christine) Naldrett, Trevor (Laura) Naldrett, Angi (Arthur) Fletcher, Kristen Hanna, Kira (Gerry) Potter and Josh Potter. She was also blessed to have 3 great grandchildren, McKenzie, Jack and Julia Naldrett and many fur grandpets. Doreen was also survived by her cat Carey, who will be cared for by Doreen’s dear friend Hilda.
The family would like to thank the Home Care Nurses and workers for all of their help over the last few years, as well as the staff at College Park 1, for all the support they have given her. We would also like to acknowledge our dear family friend, Fred Buchan, for the warmth and friendship he shared with Doreen.
At Doreen’s request there will be no service, however a Come and Go tea will be held in the Diner at College Park 1 from 2:00-4:00 p.m on Friday, March 17th. . In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may donate to a charity of their choice in her memory.
