Obituary of Kenneth Wesley Benson

Kenneth Wesley Benson of Regina, SK passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the age of 70, with his family by his side.  He was born December 16, 1952, in Selkirk, MB and was predeceased by his father Ingolfur Lorne, mother Vera Ann, and brother John Benson.  He is survived by his sister Beverly Benson; daughter Petra Benson (José Therrien); and sons Eric (Angela), and Alex (Kiley).  Ken will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Dylan Morin-Benson (MJ), Keira, Merceydes, Véronique, and Linkin Therrien, Rya and Kade Benson, Addison and Vaughn Benson; also left to mourn are Gerty Benson, mother of his children, nieces and nephews of Winnipeg and Calgary, cousins from Manitoba and long-time friend Donna Bast. Ken had many longstanding friends from high school, work, and golf with whom he shared many laughs.

After graduating from Regina Central Collegiate High School, Ken attended the University of Edmonton where he studied drama.  His love for sales started at Grand & Toy in Calgary, AB. before he moved on to a 36-year career with Printwest, a career he retired from on January 31, 2023.

Ken was an avid sports fan. His true passion was golf, and he was a member of the Wascana Country Club for 33 years. He enjoyed fishing the many Saskatchewan lakes and armchair quarterbacking his beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders, becoming a season ticket holder in 1987. He also loved to travel to Blue Jays’ games and hot destinations with his family.

 The family would like to thank the Allan Blair Cancer Center, Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit (3A) and especially Palliative Home Care Services who supported Ken during his valiant fight with cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023 starting at 2:00 p.m. til 6:00 p.m. at a location that will be determined.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SHA Palliative Home Care Program at www.hrf.sk.ca.   To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
