It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Trenton Bernard Gordon Baisley on March 30, 2023 at Pasqua Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan at the age of 72. Trenton was born on April 18, 1950, in Preeceville, Saskatchewan to John Francis Bernard and Dorothy Baisley.

Trenton will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 52 years, Maureen, and his children Sean Baisley (Julie), Regan Baisley (Jill), and Brenda Baisley (Chris Beingessner), and his grandchildren Connor, Sydney, Olivia, Norah, Nolan, and Amelia, his sister Lana Lundell, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margaret and Pearce Anthony, and special nephews and their families, Kory, Kirk, & Kent Lundell, and Jonathan and Neal Anthony. Trenton was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Dorothy, and his brother Mark.

Being the son of a CN Rail Station agent, Trenton grew up moving to a number of small towns in Saskatchewan and Manitoba in his early years. He made many great friends and loved to play hockey with them. The last move of his youth was to Lynn Lake, Manitoba, where he met Maureen. He finished school and started work life as a labourer loading and unloading freight cars for CN.

Trenton and Maureen were married in 1971 and continued the pattern of moving as his business smarts and common sense soon gave him the opportunity to advance to executive roles in the corporate world. Trenton’s work took them to Bruderheim, Fort Saskatchewan, Calgary, and Naperville, eventually settling in Regina for 18 years, and finally Fort Qu’Appelle for 12 years. In 2022, they moved back to Regina to be closer to healthcare, but the Fort will always have a special place in their hearts.

At the age of 50, Trenton completed his MBA with honours while working full time. He was one of only two people admitted to the program without a prior degree. His work was never dull and it took him all over the world to the likes of China, Japan, Thailand, India, and Kazakhstan. Even so, he was always happiest at home with his family.

Amidst all the hustle and bustle of corporate life, he never lost touch with his small town roots and appreciation for the slower, simpler things in life. He deeply appreciated the beauty of nature, working in the garden, and watching the community of birds that he kept well fed in the yard. He took the time to get to know everyone he interacted with– from his neighbours and fellow parishioners to the staff at the coffee shop. He was generous when people were in need and always ready with a story to entertain.

He was never one to take life too seriously and loved to tell and play jokes, pulling off some very impressive pranks over the years. From his colleagues to his grandkids, he was always looking for opportunities to make people laugh.

Beyond his own personal accomplishments, Trenton was so incredibly proud of his three kids, the careers they have taken on, the spouses they have built a life with, and their children, who he loved to watch grow and learn. And of course, his 52 year marriage to Maureen, who was his greatest, most steadfast support, was the crowning achievement of his nearly 73 years.

The family sends sincere thanks to all the special people who supported and cared for Trenton during his illness.
