Obituary of Rosemarie Meger

MEGER, Rosemarie (nee Lang)

1945 - 2023

It is with the heaviest of hearts the family of Rosemarie Meger (nee Lang) announces her passing on April 12, 2023, at the age of 77.

Rosemarie was predeceased by her husband John in 2001; her parents Josef Lang and Elizabeth Hicke (Exner); stepfather Joseph Hicke; father-in-law Adolph; mother in-law Edith; brothers Erwin & Horst Lang; brother-in-law Gerald Meger; and sisters in-law Dianna Lang and Dianna Meger.

Left to cherish her memories are her partner, later in life, Gene Landry; her children, Daryl (Lorri) and Dale (Mary Jayne); grandchildren Mary Kate, Matheson, Emily, Ethan and Gabriella; her brothers, John (Janice), Raymond (Linda) and Harold (Kim); sister Joan; and sister-in-law Mary Ann Lang; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosemarie was born in 1945, in Prague, Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Grayson, Saskatchewan in 1950 with her mother and siblings. It was on the farm in Grayson where she learned to garden, bake and developed a strong work ethic. She attended Balfour Technical School in Regina and it was in Regina where she met John. The two were married in Melville, Saskatchewan in February 1966.

Rosemarie spent most of her working life at Saskatchewan Wheat Pool where she worked in the Livestock Division before retiring after 28 years.

She was truly the kindest of souls, a hard worker and fantastic cook; all traits she learned from her own mother. She loved to polka, garden, go camping and to visit with family and friends. One of her fondest memories was a cruise she and Gene took around the world in 2005.

The family extends our appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina SK, on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with a Private Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina, SK.
