Obituary of Ronald Craig Newman

NEWMAN, Ronald Craig

1948 – 2023

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of Ronald Craig Newman on Thursday May 11th, 2023, at the age of 75 years, with his daughter Kirsten and son-in-law Ian by his side.  He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Jean Newman; brother Stuart; uncle and aunt William and Joyce McMurtrie; and aunt Mae McMurtrie.  Craig leaves behind his daughter Kirsten; son-in-law Ian Clark; and his grandson’s Keaton and Lachlan.

Craig was born on April 7, 1948, in Yorkton SK and grew up primarily in Prince Albert and Yorkton, moving as an RCMP family with his father, Staff Sargent Major Frank Newman.

Craig had many hobbies which included his most proud passion for racing a classic Austin Mini.  He spoke often of racing both on ice and on a traditional dirt track.

He also enjoyed golfing, woodworking and had a love for building model airplanes and boats.  He worked in sales much of his life, proudly working for Fiat, Benson and Hedges, The Nutty Club, Blackwood Hodge and Nevada Bobs.

He owned a landscaping company for a period of time and most recently retired as a Commissionaire with the Regina Police Department.

Although Craig lived a fairly private life, those who knew him saw Craig as an incredibly kind and intelligent man, with a heart of love.  In his later years he surrounded himself by photos of his grandson’s and loved their visits and hearing about their activities.

Craig will be Celebrated in a Private Family Service in Yorkton at a later date.
