MOUYIOS, Christos Nicholas
February 17, 1943 – May 16, 2023
It is with immense sadness that we announce that Chris, our devoted husband, father, and Papa passed away. We lost our pillar, our strength, our loved and cherished Papa, and friend to many.
Chris was born in the southern Peleponese in Catophanari, Greece. In October of 1955, at the young age of twelve Chris's family put him on a ship to join his two Uncles, Jimmy and George, and his brother John in Canada. Upon arrival Chris was boarded in Indian Head at the Orange Home where he went to school and learned the English language. When Chris returned to Regina he worked at the Co-op Creamery, Gene's Kentucky Fried Chicken on the Highway, and Sammy's Pizza Palace where he was one of the first pizza cooks in Regina. Chris went on to work at IPSCO where he retired after thirty-three years of service and was known by his coworkers as "THE GREEK". Upon retirement Chris worked as the Marshal and Starter at the Murray golf course where he made many friends and enjoyed the game of golf.
Chris met the love of his life, Gerri, in 1965. They got married in October 1967 and had 55 plus wonderful years of marriage. He and Geri enjoyed 28 years of retirement where they enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Chris loved Canada and felt being Canadian was one of the greatest privileges one could have in life. On this day we pause to remember, not just that he died, but that he lived, and that he left us precious memories.
Chris was predeceased by his mother Angeliki and father Nikolaus; three sisters Stamatina, Calomira and Vassilo; brothers Spiro in Greece and John from Regina; his mother and father- in-law Pearl and Pamfil (aka: Casey) Moroschan.
Chris is survived by his loving wife Gerri (Geraldine Moroschan); sons Nickolas (Jocelyn) and Pamfilos (aka: Casey) (Jenny); and his ‘loves of his life’ grandchildren Liam, Sadie, Sophia, and Christina.
A Funeral will be held at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church, 3000 Argyle Road, Regina, SK on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Spyridon Vandoros officiating.
