My deepest condolences to Lawrence, their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and twin sister on the passing of Ruth. I thought I just messaged/received a message from Ruth in FB. That’s how we have kept in touch throughout the years. I was deeply saddened by the news of her passing. Ruth & myself have worked for so many years at Wascana Rehab Centre. She retired from our program. She was greatly missed by many residents & staff when she retired. Her heart was full of love and care for our residents. She only wanted the best for them. She was a comfort, support and a positive influence to the residents. Her compassion, dedication, commitment to help not only the residents, but also us, her co-workers, is a sweet memory & treasure we will remember her by. She was the best cinnamon baker in our cooking group for the residents. The residents enjoyed the cinnamon buns aroma that permeated the whole unit hallways. That brought joy to Ruth’s heart knowing how she had stirred the residents’ stimulation of their many senses that other therapies weren’t able to provide. She would arrive early at work on cinnamon buns’ Mondays to prepare the dough and on Turkey months to start the oven to have the meal ready on time. To me, she was a coworker, a counsellor, a cooking/baking adviser, a super Mom & grandma and most of all a Jesus believer and lover. We almost knew her children & grandchildren even if we haven’t met many of them. We knew them by their names from her family stories. Ruth will be greatly missed not only by her family, but the many, like me, who’s lives she has touched and inspired. She will be remembered for the love she gave to others that could only come from the love of God in her heart. May the love of God and assurance that Ruth is now well rested and pain free in the loving arms of our Father God in heaven give her whole family full comfort and strength during this sad time. Grateful to God and Ruth’s family for having the opportunity to have known and worked with Ruth.

When I first started working at WRC, Ruth was one of the first to welcome me with her friendly smile and kind words. During the times I worked with her and met her over the years, she so impressed me with her friendliness, compassion, attention to detail. Ruth always wanted the very best for each and every patient.
And of course, she always made sure I knew I had a special name - the same as her daughter’s!
God’s peace and comfort be with you, her family. May she stay alive in your hearts with your many memories.

I worked with Ruth in the WRC Adult Program PT but I know she also loved working with the children in the Children's Program. She was unfailingly kind and compassionate and oh, so capable, in her treatment of our patients. She would always go the extra mile to ensure patients were comfortable and getting the absolutely most effective and thorough treatment. She was so lovely to work with. Every day, she made other people's lives better through her caring and practical help. She was a wonderful person. I'm so glad I got to know and work with her.
On a personal note, I remember her advocating for 2 or 4 children, but not 3.Three was the awkward number with one always left out! I bet her children feel like they did OK!
My deepest sympathies to Lawrence and her family, especially Beverley who was also a lovely and effective teacher in my children's school. Ruth's legacy lives on...
