1949 – 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dimitra Kolitsas (née Latsoudes) on Sunday, June 4, 2023. Dimitra's departure leaves a significant void, but her enduring memory continues to shine brightly through the impactful legacy she leaves behind. Dimitra was predeceased by her father, Edward Latsoudes; in-laws Dimitrios and Sophia Kolitsas; sister Georgia Chatzoglou; brother-in-law George Kolitsas; brother-in-law John Kolitsas; nephew Dimitrios Kolitsas; and cousin Tony Caravelis. Also, her aunt Artemis (Elias) Spathis; aunt Rena (George) Yiannas; aunt Maria Tsapralis; aunt Helen (Prodromos) Constantinides; uncle Vasilios Caravelis; aunt Evelyn (Nick) Christakos; and aunt Smaro (Spero) Shourounis. She is survived by her mother Ann Latsoudes; her devoted husband Antonios (Tony) Kolitsas; loving daughters Sophia Kolitsas and Anthea Kolitsas (Marian Grabowski); cherished granddaughter Katina Demi Marie Grabowski; sisters Barbara (Constantinos) Loutas and Kathrine (Chris) Olmstead; aunt Valia Caravelis; brother-in-law Steve Chatzoglou; brother and sister-in-law Gus (Mary) Kolitsas; sister-in-law Nikki Kolitsas; sister-in-law Voula Kolitsas as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, god-daughters, and loving extended family.

Born on August 8, 1949, Dimitra was a second-generation Canadian - Greek who grew up in Winnipeg. Known as a 'get it done' type of woman, she carried her spirit of resolve and dedication into her career as a kindergarten teacher in Winnipeg. Her legacy in this role has left a significant impact on many young lives.In the 1970s, Dimitra met her husband Tony through her cousin Katina Pontikes, and with an adventurous spirit, moved to Regina. This bold step marked the beginning of a life filled with love, companionship, travel, and mutual support. Their journey together saw the birth of their daughters Sophia and Anthea, to whom she provided unconditional love and support.

Beyond her family, Dimitra made significant contributions to the larger community as well as the Greek community. As an active member of the Daughters of Penelope and the Ladies of Philoptochos Society, she was often seen volunteering and supporting various initiatives. Her passion for cooking Greek dishes and watching True Crime series added more dimensions to her vibrant personality. Her dedication to service and education was unwavering, and she was often found sharing her knowledge and love.Dimitra was a vibrant, strong woman who led her life with a quick wit. Her feisty nature and boundless care for others will be deeply missed. Dimitra's dedication to her family, friends, and her community was unwavering. As we grieve her loss, her enduring memory will forever serve as a beacon of resilience and inspiration to all who knew her.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the healthcare professionals who have been involved in Dimitra's care throughout her health journey, specifically the nurses and staff of 3B Pasqua Hospital, Regina, SK. Additionally, we would also like to thank all our friends and family for all their support and love and Father Spiridon Vandoros for his guidance and support.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church, 3000 Argyle Road, Regina, SK, on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church (https://gocregina.com/donate/).
