Obituary of Othmar Martin Bayer

Othmar Martin Bayer, late of Regina, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2023, at the age of 88 years. He was predeceased by his parents Josef and Mary. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dianne; sons Marc (Geum ha), Sean (Tauhida), and Kipp (Jennifer); granddaughters Christine, Justine, Nafisa, and Hajra; and grandsons Jalen, Zane and Tate. Othmar came to Canada in 1955 and built a wonderful life helping to raise three boys, first in Abbey and then Kipling, Saskatchewan. He spent time teaching in those communities, as well as Mendham, for 31.5 years before retiring in 1992. Othmar spent his retirement in Kipling and Regina. Othmar loved to meet new people, discuss history and politics. He also loved to travel and learn new languages. Othmar was a fantastic husband, father, and friend. He will be deeply missed. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Preeceville and District Health Centre – Long Term Care Facility in Preeceville, Saskatchewan, for all the care and compassion the staff showed him during his final few months.
