Obituary of Erich Karl Langner
LANGNER, Erich
1935 – 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, of our beloved husband, father and ‘Opa’, Erich Karl Langner. Erich is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Lina Langner; daughters Terry (John) Holzer, Deb (Brian) Porter, Lila Langner; and grandchildren Sam (Annachie) Brophy, Bryce (Jordan) Rubin, and Brioni Rubin. Angels greeting him are his mother Charlotte and father Joseph Peter; and grandson Shaun Jessop.
Erich was born on June 2, 1935, in Breslau, Germany. He immigrated to Canada after WWII. Armed with only a grade 8 education and English as a second language, he started and successfully operated Eric’s Auto Body for over 50 years. Generous to a fault, Erich was always willing to help anyone out. He was always the life of the party. He loved to sing, yodel and dance, and spend lots of time with family and friends. Erich loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and time at Sunset Cove. He and Lina travelled the world. First and foremost a family man, Erich was very proud of his children and grandchildren’s achievements. He shared his love of travel with his children and grandchildren, generously taking them on many family trips. A special memory is that everyone in his family would receive a call on their birthday. Erich would sing loudly, always ending with “and many more…” We are sad that there will not be “any more…” of Erich’s songs, jokes, and laughter, but we have so many special moments in our hearts forever.
The family would like to thank those friends and neighbours who have been so supportive, especially over these past few years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Canadian Wildlife Federation, 350 Michael Cowpland Drive, Kanata, ON K2M 2W1. A private family gathering will be held in his honour, at a later date. To leave a message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com.
