Obituary of Emma Caroline Schmidt

Emma Caroline Schmidt, late of Earl Grey, SK, passed away on Tuesday June 27th, at the age of 92 years with her family by her side. Emma was predeceased by her husband Valentine Schmidt; daughter Betty Earnshaw; sister Helen Maier, and parents Louis and Caroline Ritter. Emma is survived by her sons Rudy (Sherry), Alvin, Marvin (Karen); son-in-law Pat Earnshaw; brother Arnold (Elaine) Ritter, brothers-in-law Richard Maier and Alfred Schmidt; grandchildren Jennifer (Truman), Megan, Spencer (Erin), Baden (Jolene), Eric (Cari), Christopher (Jessica), and Emily; great grandchildren Austin, Jillian, Emmett and Susie; numerous nieces and nephews and her special friend Rose. Emma was born on June 3, 1931 to Louis and Caroline Ritter. She was born and raised in the Earl Grey area where she attended the Scarborough School. On October 5, 1950, Emma married Valentine Schmidt and they established their homestead south of Earl Grey where they farmed and raised their four children. Emma enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful cook and will be remembered for her famous cabbage rolls, jelly roll and homemade gravy. Emma was also a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid and was always willing to help others when they needed a hand. Emma's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at College Park Il for the care they provided Emma in her final years. May she now rest in peace.
