I have worked with Jim for the last 8 years. I spoke with him almost everyday and heard many stories and jokes as we talked. He was one of the most caring and supportive drivers towards his students I have had the pleasure to meet. I am saddened by his passing. Thank you for sharing him with us.

Gail, Kevin and family.
I knew Jim from working with him at the bussing office. Over the years he was so dependable, caring of his “kids” and always had time to talk! He was meticulous and a creature of habit, always walking in with his gym bag getting ready to go to the field house after his morning run.
He talked fondly of his grandchildren. Like all the time! And he reciprocated with asking me about things that were going on with my life. He was so very personable!
I also had the pleasure of working with Big Jim at Country Thunder for 4 years back stage. He took care of “his girls” and was a Boss managing all those people hanging out in the wings of the stage. Those were years I will never forget.
Jim kept in touch with me. Called sometimes and texted to check in. That’s just the kind of guy he was. I’ll miss him dearly.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Jim. He was a regular at our local restaurant and I had the pleasure of serving Jim on the bar daily for over 2 years. He was beloved by everyone on staff and the favorite. Jim extended his kindness to everyone, shared his love of sports and his family with all of us and was the perfect example of a good neighbour. I ran into Jim on my last visit to Regina and we continued to catch up like old friends. I am forever touched by the kindness Jim extended through sharing his garden, sports stats and school bus stories. My thoughts and love are with Gail and his children / grandchildren.

I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of Jim. Jim was the bus driver for my kids, but more than that he was a friend. My eldest son was on Jim’s bus for the whole of elementary school; my boys were the last kids on the bus everyday. Jim became a friend to our family through the kids. He loved to talk sports with my oldest-through 4 years of high school and beyond, they stayed in touch getting together from time to time to talk sports. Jim even told my son that he made sure to watch the sports update every morning when he was still riding his boss because he knew he would want to talk about it on the way home. Jim watched out for the kids on the bus, I never had to worry about my boys when they were on Jim’s bus.
After reading this touching tribute and the condolences , it is clear that Jim touched many lives. His memory will be cherished by those that knew him and the impact that he had on his little buddy on the bus will never be forgotten.

Our deepest condolences to Gail, Kevin and family
We were lucky to enough to be next to Jim and Gail at the rider games. Often watching Jim was more entertaining than what was on the field. (” TOMMMMY” ) in his loud deep voice. (Not necessarily kindly). And then the softer side at the field house watching him and listening to his so sincere love and concern for his family and the kids he bussed. A true gentle giant that will be truly missed :(

Jim, you were truly one of a kind. I have missed you these last few months I've been gone from the pharmacy. I always appreciated your faith in me; the countless times I heard "is Lindsay here, she knows" always made me smile. Your kindness and thoughtfulness also did not go unnoticed or unappreciated; always taking an extra minute to ask about my family - how the kids were doing in hockey or ball, and checking how many teams my husband was coaching each particular season. Rest well my friend. May peace be with your family.

To the Blevins and Hennings families.
My wife Linda joins me in offering our deepest sympathy to you on the sad news of the recent passing of both Jim and his daughter Kim.
As well as Jim's many accomplishments that you have duly noted in his thorough obituary, Jim was also a great supporter of our good old home town of Star City Sask. As a boy growing up in Star City I used to love discussing our team, the New York Yankees, with Jim and his Grandpa Charles Hennings.
In later years, whenever we used to run into each other in Regina Jim always had time to reminisce about the "good old days" as well as discussing current sporting and political events of the day with me.
Rest in peace JB! You have done well! ..

My condolences to the the family and friends of Jim. My daughter was on his bus for the last 3 years and he was definitely one of those unforgettable bus drivers, and reading through the beautiful words written about him it shows how truly kind and unforgettable he was. Before we found out about his passing we were making cards for the teacher and Jim and I want to share what my daughter had written. He will truly be missed.

Condolences to the family of Jim. Jim was an incredible man, and my sons favorite bus driver. Jim drove my son to and from school for eight years. In that time, he was thoughtful, courteous, forgiving and kind. We were sad to leave Regina 3 years ago, and left behind a lovely gift, and card for our favorite driver. In turn he gave our son a card with a thoughtful message of their time together, and well wishes for the future. He, and his impact will be missed by many.

My condolences to the family. I was fortunate to be one of those 12 year olds coached by Jim on the Kyleliners. At the time I lacked the skill to play at that level but Jim had the patience to let me develop during the season. He slowly built up my confidence, lent me Kevin’s old catching glove and my confidence increased every game and every practice. Jim made sure that every player was accepted by the team on and off the ice, Jim was the best coach I ever had, in any sport, and I would not have gone as far as I did in hockey without Jim as my coach for that one season. I wish I had a few more seasons with Jim! Thanks Coach!

Sincere condolences to Jim's family. Jim and my dad worked together at SaskPower and Jim was hockey coach to my nephew back in the 1970s. In recent years I would often run into Jim at the Cathedral Safeway and would always stop for a chat - usually about Riders, CFL and NFL! He remembered everyone by name! Just spoke with him a few weeks ago and his usual send off was "take care kiddo - see you soon". He will be missed.
