Obituary of Gertrude Ethel Craig

CRAIG, Gertrude “Trudy”

1944 – 2023

"Gertrude Ethel Craig" (Trudy, as she insisted on being called), a remarkable woman whose heart overflowed with love and an extraordinary sense of humor, peacefully passed away onThursday, July 6, 2023, at the age of 79.

Trudy was born on February 23, 1944, in Regina and was adopted by Ethel and Bob Craig, who raised her and her brother John on a farm in Foam Lake. There, she developed a love for horses and singing.

From a tender age, Trudy's vibrant sense of humor shone brightly. She had a natural talent for being silly and bringing laughter into people's lives. Her ability to find humor even in the face of adversity was truly remarkable.

Throughout her life, Trudy's infectious humor continued to bring joy to her family and friends. She effortlessly became the life of every gathering. Trudy was not only an expert at great talks but also a great listener, providing invaluable words of advice and support to those around her.

For two decades, she worked in homecare, where she became known for her boundless compassion and ability to create a warm, comforting environment for her clients. In addition to her caring nature, Trudy, an ardent fan of Elvis Presley, also had a strong faith in Jesus. After retiring, she moved to Regina, where she lived out her last years as her happiest, enjoying a very special relationship with her daughter Tami.

Trudy discovered her birth mother's family, the Gafneys, Uncle Tom, and sister Jean. This made her very happy. Trudy loved and appreciated her pastor, David Yemba, who was also a great friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.

She is survived by son Terry; daughter-in-law Amy, grandson Keegan and granddaughter Jenna; daughter Tami, son-in-law Lloyd and grandson Kovi; son Layne, daughter-in-law Melissa, granddaughter Jae and grandson Jaden; granddaughters Noel; nieces Bev and Shawna, and sister Jean. Trudy was predeceased by the children's dad, Jim; and second husband Lawrence.

Until we meet again, we love you!

We are pretty sure Trudy is in Heaven, being silly, laughing, smiling, and loving it.

In honor of Trudy's memory, a private ceremony will be held by the family at a later date.

We would like to thank all her friends and friends for all their love and prayers."
