We offer our condolences and sympathy to Fred’s family and friends on his recent passing. An affable and endearing gentleman with a disarming smile, he spent a life doing for others as his obituary attests. He served others but he was a leader. Best described as a human dynamo, he was his own person but selfless, he was confident but humble. Altogether, he was a remarkable, talented and giving person. His family and relationships made his life full.
He will be remembered with affection and gratitude.

Fred was a great friend when I visited my dad, Gord Staseson, at College Park. Of course, his support of the Riders is legendary and it forged a close bond among all the past presidents. It also led to lively and entertaining conversations.
His smile was the best. I think of him often with such affection.
Regina has lost one of its biggest supporters. He will be missed by those he touched with his kindness and optimism along the way

A true gentleman. A natural leader endeared far and wide by those privileged to work with him. I had the pleasure of working “side by side” with Fred during the dark days of 1997 when the Riders teetered in the verge of collapse. Fred’s calm readership style helped steer the ship into much calmer waters. Rest easy friend. You will be missed.

Along with so many others, I loved Fred. He will truly be missed.
I worked with him closely at Cable for 18 years from 1982 to 2000 as his VP Operations. Even after I left Cable, he sent me emails pretty much every day (sometimes several in a single day) for the next 19 years until 2019 . . . humour, thoughts and after-thoughts for enjoying and improving the quality of life. Who does that to a previous employee? Fred, that’s who. If he missed even 3 days of emails, I‘d get worried.
You hear this often . . . But, Fred really was a class guy! AND, truly a gentleman. He lived by a personal code, based on values, trust and ethics. I trusted him implicitly. I just wanted to follow him wherever he led the company. What a quality human being.
Example. My job interview with Fred. He had a recruiter track me down plus a few others. I had just decided to leave Xerox when my wife contracted Multiple Sclerosis - because I didn’t want to be away from home and regularly travelling on business anymore. As the interview went on, I remember one key question Fred asked was, how important my family was to me. I told him about my wife’s MS and said “My family is and always will be #1 and while I will be totally dedicated to my work, work will always come after my family”. I thought I had just ‘failed’ my interview - being too honest, too direct. Fred leaned back in his chair for a few moments, then offered me the job. Fred IS the reason I spent 18 years at Cable.
Over the years, we built the company, went fishing together, Rotary, Ducks Unlimited, national conventions, banquets, special projects like the Cable/Great West Golf Tournament, and to their cottage at Wee Too. Syl (my wife) and I got to know Anita and the magic that Fred and Anita had together. Totally committed. Always respectful of each other. Their love and kindness emanated for all to enjoy.
Morality and virtue. I never felt that he let those tenets slip – ever. How could you not want to be around that kind of a person for as long as possible? My privilege for some 40+ years. I feel blessed to have shared in some part of his life.
Farewell my best boss and friend.

I have been privileged to have known Fred all his life. I lived on 10th Ave. around the corner in a flophouse and Fred lived on 17 block Toronto street in a beautiful I house. Fred went to Saint Joseph school and I went to Thompson school. And I didn’t play much with Fred as a boy because most of the time I spent on 16 Block Ottawa St. In the back lanes and the junkyard, but every day going to Thomson school , I passed by my friends house and admired it. We sort of had parallel lives growing up and II knew Fred and all of his employment efforts and his sports efforts and his community efforts , Fred and I were parallel to each other all the way long . Fred was a great guy, generous, always willing to help, and always offering what he could .. We are both members of the infamous, Irish club, a portion of the Regina Rotary club of which we both of the members. I am somewhat shocked by his passing And I’m deeply saddened by it. My wishes for peace, strength, and courage to his family in this time of loss. Jim Toth.

My sincere condolences to Lisa and Troy on the passing of your dad. For the first10 or so years of my 33 years at Access, I had the pleasure of working with your father and had the upmost respect and admiration for him. If any thing would make this easier for you, is that he has been reunited with the love of his life, Anita. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Marilyn Skihar
