Obituary of Nadine Marcelle Cooper
It is with sadness the family of Nadine Cooper announces her passing on Saturday July 29, 2023. She lived a wonderful life and passed away peacefully at the age of 96. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Among her many accomplishments, she was most proud of her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Nadine was born on February 25, 1927, in Ponteix, SK. She wass predeceased by her husband of sixty-nine years, Tony and is survived by four children, Zora (Dean), David (Shelley), Melody (Dave) and Brian; eight grandchildren, Marnie, Jocelyn, Laura, Tracy, Reis, Eric, Nicole, Kylee; and fifteen great grandchildren with one on the way.
Nadine moved to Regina in the fall of 1947 and married Tony on July 2, 1949. Nadine had an entrepreneurial spirit and in 1954 convinced Tony that they should start up a Mac Tool franchise. They worked side by side, raised their children, and were involved in many community clubs and volunteer activities.
Nadine had many interests and talents. She earned her pilot’s license from the Regina Flying Club in December 1966. She was involved in the Ninety Nines, a women’s pilot organization and was inducted into the International Forest of Friendship in 1985. She had many roles in other community clubs including Saskatchewan Flying Farmers, COPA, Saskatchewan Aviation Council, and the Regina Antique Auto Club. Nadine was a talented artist and started to paint in the 1960’s. Many of her works hang proudly in her family’s homes today.
In 1989 Nadine opened Grassroots Country Store & Antiques as a retirement hobby, which she operated for 30 years. She loved to attend local auctions, and garage sales, always on the hunt for treasures to stock her store.
Mom made many friends and acquaintances over the years. Some of them could be found at the Antique Store on a Friday night enjoying Happy Hour and solving the world’s problems.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Palliative Care Unit of the Pasqua Hospital for their care and compassion. Flowers are gratefully declined. Charitable Donations in memory of Nadine may be made to the Arthritis Society, 706 Duchess Street, Saskatoon, SK. S7K 0R3 or a charity of your choice.
