Randy, Stef, Geoff, and Myrna, and your spouses and children, I hope this letter finds you all surrounded by the love and support of your friends and family during this difficult time. It is with a heavy heart that I offer my deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved mother and grandmother, Marilyn. I had the privilege of knowing Marilyn since 1977, when Randy and I became friends during our time at the 734 Communications Squadron. Over the years, I got to know Marilyn well, and she left an indelible mark on my heart. Her funny sense of humour and her incredibly warm and kind-hearted nature made her a truly special person. Marilyn had a unique ability to bring joy and laughter to any gathering, and her welcoming spirit made everyone feel like family. I am deeply sorry that I was unable to attend the celebration of life to pay my respects to Marilyn in person. However, please know that she was very much in my thoughts throughout the day. I am certain that it was a beautiful tribute to her remarkable life and the love she shared with all of you. Marilyn's memory will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire us all. Please take comfort in the knowledge that she is at peace and that her spirit will forever watch over each of you. During this time of grief, please lean on one another for support and strength. Your family's bond is a testament to the love and values that Marilyn instilled in all of you. Once again, please accept my sincerest condolences. Marilyn was a truly exceptional woman, and her memory will be cherished always.

The passing of David ( Mr. Petrie) and now Marilyn ( Mrs. Petrie) this year has brought into focus the good fortune I’ve had in my life. To have known the Petrie’s is to having witnessed the application of graciousness and generosity in daily living that I need to emulate going forward. I was lucky enough to have spent a little bit of time with Mrs. Petrie and her son Randy after David passed and I was moved by her stoic attitude and quiet dignity in not only coping with the passing of the love of her life but in how she faced her own health issues. Strength of character I suppose, a quality inherited by their children. Thank you Marilyn for the gift of your life and the and for the legacy it provided. May your soul find your loving husbands so that you can share the joy of peace. With love and respect, Rob

Dear Petrie family -- My heart and heart-felt sympathy go out to you at this difficult, difficult time. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Marilyn's passing. She was a dear, treasured friend in years past, and I treasure so many memories of sitting with her in church at Broadway, at gatherings at my home over the years, and later, chance visits with her and Dave, often at the north Co-op store.
