Douglas Louie Ulmer, late of Bethune, SK, passed away peacefully August 17, 2023 at the age of 69 years.  He is predeceased by his parents Gerald and Verna Ulmer; brothers Dennis and Dale Ulmer. Doug is survived by his spouse of 46 years Bernadette Ulmer; son Harley (Erin) Ulmer; and grandchildren Aiden, Anna and Adam; daughter Mikki (Peni) Ulmer-Lutudromu; and grandchildren Makayla, Kaileah and Jonah; son Devin (Michelle) Ulmer; grandchildren Stevie, Scottie, Ariana and Ryan; sister Debbie Wisniewski; brother David Ulmer; along with numerous in-laws, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Doug was born in Esterhazy, SK, moving to Bethune when his dad Gerald came to town as the Pool elevator manager. He grew up and attended School in Bethune and then Lumsden, with many people that remained lifelong friends. Doug began his working career at the Bethune Coop before taking a job in Regina at Allis Chalmers, where he met Bernie who was also employed there. From there, Doug held positions at White Farm Equipment, Bush Hog, and Degelman Industries. He was a loyal employee and fantastic coworker, again making many lifelong friends at each of the stops throughout his career and in his travels throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba. Doug also farmed with his brothers Dale and David for many years near Bethune, where he spent many hours hauling grain and kids around in the grain truck during the busy harvest season. He was a huge supporter of his children as they grew up and pursued various sports and activities. He made every game that he could, often arriving just in time after finishing work. Doug continued this tradition with his grandchildren, making numerous games and competitions including hockey, football, soccer, baseball, t-ball, waterpolo, gymnastics, ringette and anything else his grandkids participated in. Each spring and summer, Doug could often be found at Buffalo View where him and Bernie kept a campsite for many years. Doug would take great pride in tending to his campsite, enjoying visiting around campfires and spending countless hours on the water with his boat, either fishing or entertaining his grandkids tubing.

A Celebration of Life for Doug will be held Thursday August 24th, 2023 at 1 pm at the Bethune Community Hall. Please wear casual attire (Rider apparel more than fine!). In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Bethune Community Cemetery Box 209 Bethune, SK S0G 0H0.
