Obituary of Henry Oscar Doering

DOERING, Henry (Hank) Oscar August 2, 1921 - August 8, 2014 Hank passed away peacefully at the age of 93 in the Veterans Unit at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. He was predeceased by his parents Ida and Rudolph and ten siblings. His memory will be cherished by his wife of 68 years, Marion (Quigley); two daughters Donna (John) Lozinski and Debbie (Larry) Sentes; grandsons Brad (Jeannine) and Jason (Denise); and their sons Evan and Derek. Hank was born at Burstall Sask. He served his country in WWII from 1940 – 1945, and was later employed with the C.P.R. and as a maintenance man with Canada Post and Canada Permanent Trust until retirement. He achieved numerous recognition awards for being a blood donor for many years. Hank had a kind and generous spirit, and a sense of humour. He liked to make people laugh, especially children, and had a soft spot for animals. Hank enjoyed the simple things in life such as old western movies, cards and pool, dancing, mini golf, family gatherings and the Roughriders. Numerous trips and outings with his daughters were special to him, as well as travelling to Niagara Falls, Alaska, the East and West Coasts and Nashville. The family extends their gratitude to the very special staff and volunteers at the Wascana Rehab. Veterans' Unit 3-5, for their excellent care, kindness and support. Our appreciation is also extended to Qu'Appelle House and the Pioneer Village Alzheimer's day program. A Funeral Service will not be held.
