Obituary of Edna Estelle Lethbridge

EDNA ESTELLE LETHBRIDGE December 6, 1925 - August 11, 2014 It is with sadness and relief that we, Edna’s family, announce her peaceful passing last Monday, August 11, 2014 at 88 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Eliza (née Parrish) Fowler; an infant sister Mary; brothers, Carl and Ivan; sister Alice Maclean; in-laws, William Lethbridge and Jean Schleihauf; and her husband of 63 years, Clare. Edna is survived by daughter Linda of Regina, SK; son Ross of Warman, SK; son John (Trish) of Toowomba, Australia; grandchildren, Harrison and Hannah of Australia; as well as many nieces and nephews (greats and great-greats) in Eastern Canada. Edna was born on a farm near Oil Springs, ON. She was a kind and gentle soul with a ready smile. Edna attended school in Dawn Township, moving to Glencoe to complete grades 12 and 13. It was here that she met the love of her life Clare. Edna attended Normal School in London, ON and taught in a one room school in Mosa Township. Married in August 1948, she and Clare moved to Kingston, ON to complete his education while Edna continued to teach. The two moved West in 1951 to Morse, SK, Calgary, AB in 1954, Moose Jaw, SK in 1964 and finally Regina, SK in 1973, where they retired. Mom returned to the work force after raising her family. Edna was employed by Simpsons and Sears before finally retiring. Mom was active in the church all her life. Edna was an excellent cook, liked to sew, knit, crochet, and cross stitch. She also loved to garden. In Regina, she became interested in ceramics, which lead to the publication by the group, of a cookbook of which she was very proud. Her greatest love was her family who she guided and looked out for all her life. Our thanks to the staff on 4A Pasqua Hospital, the caregivers on 3-5, 2-6, and 2-5 at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre for your care and compassion of, and for mom, during her final year. The Funeral Service to Celebrate Edna’s Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers graciously declined.
