Ken was born and raised on a farm near Fillmore, Saskatchewan. It was there that he met his wife, Mary. A caring husband, father and grandfather, Ken was a successful entrepreneur with a strong sense of community service. He took pride in his farm machinery business, Plains Equipment Ltd., which he owned and operated for almost 30 years with his business partner, Harvey Mazinke. As a long-time, active supporter of the Liberal Party of Canada, Ken made many lifelong friendships through his political work. He served as a board member for the Canada Ports Corporation, the Canadian National Railway and the National Parole Board. Ken loved the outdoors, and some of his most memorable times were with friends on hunting and fishing trips. In his youth, playing sports was a big part of Ken’s life, and in later years, he became an avid spectator. Ken spent many summers at the family cottage on Echo Lake, where he enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his granddaughters, Ellie and Ginny. He was a devoted grandfather, who loved spending time with them and took great pride in their achievements. Ken will be remembered for his sense of humour, his willingness to help others and his generosity. The family would like to thank Dr. Peter VanRooyen and Dr. Hassan A. Mohamed for their excellent care over the years.
