Obituary of Irma Hildegarde Gatenby

IRMA HILDEGARDE GATENBY November 13, 1928 – September 1, 2014 Irma died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bob, and by six brothers and two sisters. Irma is survived by her son Ron of Regina, and by her brothers, Ken (Bea) Weber and Mel Schultz, her sister Christina Jacobs, her sisters-in-law, Ivy Schultz and Vera Weber, and her brother-in-law Pat Gatenby. She will also be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and by her close friend, Rose Kalinowski. Irma grew up in the McKague area. She married Bob Gatenby in 1947, and they farmed close to Regina Beach and eventually made their home in Regina, where Irma worked for many years for Sears Canada. She enjoyed golf and bowling, and was a long-time member of the Order of Royal Purple. Irma will be fondly remembered for her love of family and friends and for her unfailing sense of humour. A Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Regina Beach Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Irma may be made to a charity of your choice.
