Obituary of Vern Obert Reese

VERN OBERT REESE 1935 – 2014 Vern passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Jean; son Kevin (Karen) and grandchildren Christopher (Jessica), Jessica, Alison and Pamela; daughter Lesley (Neil) Thomson and grandchild Aaron; daughter Sandra (Tom) Williams and grandchildren Liam and Keir Trainor; sister-in-law Jane Krafchuk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Vern was predeceased by his parents, Obert and Alice; brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter (Myrna), George and Billy (Diane) Krafchuk. Vern was a teacher for over 30 years. He was a local artist known for his Saskatchewan landscapes and had showings in Regina and Saskatoon. He was a long-time volunteer with the Regina Exhibition Association and Government House Historical Society. Vern’s other interest was antiques and he travelled throughout Saskatchewan as an appraiser at antique shows. He also owned and operated Old Homestead Antique Store in Regina and was a regular guest on the John Gormley radio show appraising antiques. Vern was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Bester, Shirley and the palliative homecare team for all their support. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Vern may be made to Regina Palliative Care Inc., 4F – 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK, S4T 1A5.
