Obituary of Doreen Sandercock

DOREEN SANDERCOCK Doreen Minerva Frances Sandercock (née Callander), life-long resident of Regina, SK passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the age of 85 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Ruth; husband Robert; brother Lloyd; father and mother-in-law Charlie and Edith Sandercock; brothers-in-law Herman Anderson and Hartley Sandercock; and sister-in-law Lois Speirs. Doreen is survived by her sisters-in-law, Edith Anderson and MaryAnn Sandercock; brother-in-law Arnold (Ann) Speirs; special friend Walter Hannant; and many nieces, nephews and their children. She attended Albert School, Scott Collegiate and Success Business College in Regina. Doreen worked for Ford Motor Company of Canada and Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company, from which she retired as a telephone adjuster in 1987 after 36 years of employment. She was very active in the Ladies Orange Benevolent Association, rising to the position of Grand Mistress of Canada, which afforded her much travel and many friends and associates across Canada. Doreen was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion and the South Leisure Whist and Bridge clubs. As well, many happy years were spent at the “Purple Onion,” the Echo Lake cottage shared with husband Bob. The family extends appreciation to the Albert Park Seniors’ Care Home and the staff at the Pasqua Hospital for their care and compassion. The Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doreen, may be made to Hayes Haven, 920 McKay Street, Indian Head, SK, S0G 2K0.
