Obituary of Rose Mary Dennis

ROSE MARY DENNIS March 22, 1926 – September 24, 2014 Rose A name taken from the plant. She is protective, warm-hearted, kind, gentle and considerate. People love to be near her. She is the ideal friend. We are deeply saddened to say that our Mom, Rose Mary, passed away at the age of 88 years on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Mom is survived by her daughter-in-law Vicki; sons, Jerome, Wesley (Brenda) and Barry (Janie); granddaughters, Rendi, Abby and Amy Dennis, Rachel Hunt and Delsey Campbell; grandsons, Evan and Donovan Dennis, Joel Thomas-Dennis and Zachary Kolodniski; and five great-grandchildren, Kael, Brielle, Vanessa, Kory and Jenny. She was predeceased by her husband John; daughter Marlene; sons, Raymond, Fred and Peter. Mom was born and raised on a farm outside of Balgonie, SK. She attended school at St. Joseph Colony. Mom left the farm at a young age and moved to the big city of Regina where she met John and was married in 1945 at Sacred Heart Church. Mom went on to be a homemaker and to raise six sons thru some rough times. It became tougher on her when John passed away in 1976. Mom stepped up to the plate and got her driver’s license when she was 50 years old. She started working at the Regina Inn to offset costs. She did a good job raising us to careers of a part owner and manager of a monument company, a nurse, a police officer, border services officer and a postal worker. As a mother, it was heartbreaking to lose an infant daughter and later, three sons. Mom will be dearly missed as a Mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Many thanks to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre and the doctors and staff on 3B at the Pasqua Hospital where she spent her final days. The staff are the best! Also, thank you to Dr. Salgado, our family physician, and staff who cared for Mom for many years. Public Visitation will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Monday, October 6, 2014 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Very Rev. Lorne Crozon V.G. presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rose Mary, may be made to The War Amps, 1 Maybrook Drive, Scarborough, ON, M1V 5K9 or a charity of your choice.
