Obituary of Douglas Bruce Gienow

DOUGLAS BRUCE GIENOW Doug of Craven, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on October 15, 2014. He was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario on August 19, 1944 to Ralph and Dorothy (nee Martin) Gienow. Helping family and friends was Doug’s life and what he cared about most. He would always lend a helping hand. He enjoyed shuffleboard outings, keeping up his tomato patch, plowing the fields and installing flooring. Doug was happiest keeping busy. Doug lived a full life and has touched more lives than one can count. He will be forever missed by all of his family and friends. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years Dianne (nee Downie); his sons and their families, Tim (Linda) {Wayne (Tracy) [Jordanne, Autumn, Noah], Chad, Christopher}; Wayne; Jeff (Adele) {Nicholas, Alyx, Avery}; and Kevin (Donnette) {Tristin, Liam, Caden}; his brother Ralph (Annette) and sister Nancy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Ralph and Dorothy; sister Jeannie; father and mother-in-law Alec and Lillian. A private family graveside burial will be followed by a Celebration of Doug’s life for all at the Craven Hall on Saturday October 25, 2014 from 12:00 pm – 2:00pm. Flowers are gratefully declined. The family extends many thanks to the caring staff at Regina Wascana Rehabilitation Center.
