Obituary of Edith Valentine Anderson

Edith Valentine Anderson (nee Cockbill) 1921 - 2014 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edith Valentine Anderson at Regina General Hospital on October 19, 2014 with her family at her side. Edith was born in Virden, Manitoba on February 14, 1921 to Robert and Beatrice Cockbill. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings; John, Winifred (Norman), Margaret (Gordon) and her husband Jim. Mom moved to Winnipeg with her sister Win in 1942 to attend business school, where, after graduating, she met her beloved Jim. They married in 1952 and moved to Regina in 1957, where they welcomed daughter Carol (Marvin) and son Don (Adonica). They celebrated 52 years of marriage before his passing. Her grandchildren Meara and Mason Mullaney were the delight of her later life and she loved watching them grow up in the family home. She leaves behind her sister-in-law Doreen, many loving family members and friends too numerous to list. Edie enjoyed many vacations to distant locales with her family and was a founding member of All Saints Anglican Church, where she made lifelong friends as she served and worshiped for the rest of her life. It was rare for her to miss a family gathering, even in her later years when traveling became difficult. Arrangements were made for her dialysis to be performed in various cities across Western Canada, where she was always chauffeured by her loving daughter, no matter the distance. Edie was one of the first patients of Dr. Wilson’s C.R.I. Clinic and her family is grateful for his attention. Thanks also to the caregivers at the dialysis units who nursed her with dignity and compassion as well as to the staff at RGH Unit 6F. Edie had a smile for everyone she met and never missed an opportunity to hold a baby. Being selected to be a friend of hers demonstrated what it meant to be blessed. Several of those friendships lasted for over 85 years. Her life was a model of kindness and goodness. We would all do well to follow her example of steadfast faith.
