Obituary of Wendel Nicholas Karwandy

Wendel passed away peacefully on Sunday November 2, 2014 at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by his sons Don and Billy Karwandy; siblings Elizabeth, Mary, Frank and Agnes, and sister-in-law Sylvia Aumuller. Wendel and his wife Barb recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary along with many of their children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Barb; children Ken (Kirsten) Karwandy and sons Mark (Lisa), Brett, Michael, Chris (Kim); Carol (Gord) Farmer and daughters Jill, Kayla, Jaclyn; David (Lisa) Karwandy and daughters Amy, Emma, Tess; Paula (Rob) Duguid and sons Joel (Kelly), Matthew, Evan. Great-grandchildren Natalie, Jackie, and Maddox. Siblings John, Eunice, Claude; sister-in-law Mona Hart; brother-in-law Bill Aumuller and many nieces and nephews. Wendel’s legacy is the love of his family. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as a gentle man of strength, loyalty, honesty, compassion, kindness and humour. Wendel grew up on a farm near Qu’Appelle. He moved to Regina as a young man and became a Master plumber. He worked on numerous significant projects for which he took great pride. The family is grateful to Dr. Stephen Bester and the nursing staff of 4 West Regina Pioneer Village for the compassion, kindness and care that Wendel received in the last six months. Thank you most sincerely. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Martin De Porres Church, 4720 Castle Road, Regina, SK at 10:30 am on Thursday November 6, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wendel’s memory to the Alzheimer’s (Dementia) Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
