Obituary of Fredrick Gerald Turnquist

FREDRICK GERALD TURNQUIST October 30, 1951 – November 15, 2014 After a year-long battle with cancer, Gerald passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the age of 63 years. Predeceased by his dad Doug in 2002, Gerald is survived by his loving mom Gwen and sister Rhona of Regina; aunt Nora Dignean of Saskatoon; aunt Beryl Micklewright of Oshawa; and all of his cousins and their families. Gerald was born in Saskatoon. The family moved to Regina when he was two years old, where Gerald attended Campbell Collegiate then received a degree in computer science from the University of Regina. He started his career as a programmer at Cooperator’s Data Service Ltd. (now CGI), eventually becoming an independent computer consultant working for many years with SaskTel International. Gerald enjoyed his work with computers and was also an accomplished woodworker. He was an avid reader, photographer and loved music and building robots. Gwen and Rhona would like to thank Mike for the care he provided to allow Gerald to spend his last months in his own home. The Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerald’s memory to Muscular Dystrophy Canada, 2200 Saskatchewan Drive, Regina, SK, S4P 3C5 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R3.
