Obituary of Van Jeffrey Johnson

VAN JEFFREY JOHNSON May 4, 1948 – November 13, 2014 Van Jeffrey Johnson of Regina, Saskatchewan, born May 4, 1948 in Cambridge, Ontario. Died in Regina, Saskatchewan on November 13, 2014, Van Jeffrey Johnson was a Man of God and true Prophet of God who loved life, his ministry, served God with all his heart was dedicated unto his family, friends and church. He had one of the biggest hearts and was forgiving, caring, and nurturing to all he met. Van Johnson’s life spans several years of ministry towns cities countries as well as nationalities and backgrounds, all of this through his power packed, Holy Ghost filled, meetings, crusades and evangelism. He’s an awesome papa the best dad and greatest mentor to all who knew him. The lives he touches through ministry has no limits, as those who knew Van Johnson knew he serves a living and powerful God. Through his faithfulness in Jesus Christ there will always be a remnant of people that will be devoted to God because of his dedication and continual perseverance in God. Van Johnson stood in the gap for people, pushed till a breakthrough came, walked the floor until a miracle happened and salvation was evident as his sole purpose for his ministry and the belief in God was made a realization to those that had lost all hope and believed in his calling. Over the course of his life he achieved numerous awards and certificates such as a Doctor of Divinity and a Doctor of Theology, he was the National Presiding Field Bishop for the Pentecostal Church of God of Canada he was instrumental in the formation of the Pentecostal Church of God of Canada organization alongside Bishop Dudley Bent of Toronto, Ontario. Van Johnson guest starred on numerous national secular and Christian television shows across Canada and the United States which include Daystar TV (USA), Vision TV (Canada) he also hosted his own nation-wide television program called “Miracles Today” he also had head to head debates defending the gospel of Jesus Christ to such people as Charles Templeton and numerous other TV and radio talk show hosts. Van Johnson was a devoted to his wife of over 45 years Selina Johnson and granddaughter Shanelle. Van Johnson will be missed by family, friends, fellow clergy, his congregation and staff at the Miracle Centre Church where he has pastored for over 30 years. He will be celebrated as one of God’s greatest gifts to a lost and dying people, he was called by God himself both in ministry and now in life. When asked what he wanted on his tombstone he quickly replied this, “he tried very very hard!” Van Johnson leaves behind his only child Prophetess Gloria Joy Johnson and her children, Angela, Van Johnson Jr., Julia and chosen son Brendan; chosen daughter Michelle (Eric Sr.), and their children, Eric Jr. Edward, Gloria, Erica; special chosen son Marcel (Corrine) Noskiye and their children; sisters Helen (Stanley) Krafshek and Gloria Watson; brother Thomas Johnson; brother-in-law Owen Grant; sister-in-law Carol Johnson; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Van was predeceased by his parents; sister Jacqueline Grant; and brothers, Raymond (Shirley), Edward (Ada) and Billy. A very special thanks goes to his caregivers and chosen sons Francis Morin Jr. and Fabian (Heather) Walker, we would also like to thank the staff at the Home Hemo Dialysis Training Centre the nurses and staff at the General Hospital, the nurses and staff at the Wascana Rehab Centre and all those who had a part in his care and rehabilitation. We miss you papa, miss you Man of God, we miss you Bishop. Till we meet again! Memorial Service will be held at Avonhurst Pentecostal Assembly, 3200 Avonhurst Drive, Regina, SK on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
