Obituary of William Powell

William (Bill) Powell Bill passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014, very peacefully with family by his side. Predeceased by his parents, Annie (nee MacDougall) and Frank Powell, Bill is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carole; children, John (Blanca) and Jane (Tony), and grandchildren, Caleigh and Anthony. Bill was born in Regina on June 5, 1931. He attended Victoria Elementary School, and then Scott Collegiate. Bill enjoyed a fulfilling career at SaskTel, retiring in 1986 after 35 years of dedicated service. Bill loved sports, and remained very active well into his senior years. He began regularly attending the YMCA as a child, and this was where his love for swimming and handball was fostered. Bill also loved to play football, and was an excellent running back playing for both Scott Collegiate and the Regina Bombers. He was active in Regina Little Theatre since his early 20's, and won several best actor awards. After his retirement, Bill also performed at Stage West Dinner Theatre. Bill was also a talented piano player, and loved all kinds of music. Many fun sing-songs were held around the piano with family and friends. The family’s heartfelt thanks goes out to the many loving people who were there for Bill in his final days of life, and who each helped him in their own special way, to pass so peacefully. Funeral Service will be held at Celebration Lutheran Church, 3130 Renfrew Crescent East, Regina, SK on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Cory Illingworth officiating. Flowers most gratefully declined.
