Obituary of Jerry and Louise Solonyka

JERRY RUSSEL SOLONYKA September 12, 1938 – November 18, 2014 LOUISE ADELLA SOLONYKA June 19, 1941 – November 18, 2014 A story book ending to a well lived life together. Both passed peacefully of natural causes, in the love and care of the Wascana Rehabilitation Staff and in the presence of their youngest daughter and her husband. They were happily married for 53 years. They had three beautiful daughters, April Solonyka (James) of Whistler, BC, Joanne Kontogiannis and Brenda Solonyka (predeceased July 2014); one gorgeous granddaughter Nicki Kontogiannis (Vancouver, BC) and a precious beloved grandcat Jesse James Solonyka (Whistler, BC). They are fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Their faith in the Ukrainian Catholic religion was what kept them at peace with God. Their involvement in the Ukrainian community, kept them proud of their heritage. Their life was full of love and boisterous laughter, and they will be remembered by all with this held in our hearts. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, this evening, Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 7:00 pm. Divine Liturgy will held at St. Athanasius Byzantine-Ukrainian Catholic Church, 55 McMurchy Avenue, Regina on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jerry and Louise to the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, Main 6, 2180 – 23rd Avenue, Regina, SK S4S 0A5.
